Stones Settle With Lil Wayne

Rapper 'borrowed' from group

American hip hop star Lil Wayne has made an out of court settlement with The Rolling Stones.

The rapper released a track recently called 'Playing With Fire' which appeared to borrow heavily from the Stones hit 'Play With Fire'. A legal battle ensued, with the respective parties not eager to back down.

Lil Wayne's track appeared on his recent smash hit album 'Tha Carter III', meaning that the stakes were high in the case. In a previous court battle, The Verve lost all musical royalties to their hit 'Bittersweet Symphony' after using an uncleared sample.

The song 'Playing With Fire' was removed from digital versions of Lil Wayne's album after the suit was filed. The song may just be the first of many to feature in Lil Wayne's new rock direction, with the rapper featuring on label mate Kevin Rudolf's hit 'Let It Rock'.

The details of the new settlement have not been released, and it is not clear what, if any, royalties Lil Wayne must give over. However a joint statement says that "All parties expressed themselves satisfied with the amicable settlement".

Neither party has commented on the settlement.
