SQRD’s ‘Together’ Finds Bliss In Loneliness

It's out soon on Sommarhjärta...

When SQRD moved from his native Sweden to Berlin he didn't anticipate quite how hard it would be.

As an electronic producer he wanted to absorb the city's creative scene, the change of pace – in almost every way – took him by surprise.

Left to his own devices, he turned these feelings of loneliness and solitude into something positive, something soulful.

New cut 'Together' is the result. It's the sound of someone reaching out, the tenderness of the approach matched the assured musicality.

Reminiscent of those early James Blake or SBTRKT EPs, it continually fragments only to pull itself together and surge towards a conclusion.

SQRD comments: "Usually there are a lot of questions that pop up during my track-making process. Since I do all the parts of the writing, singing and producing on my own and don't share the tracks to anyone before its 95% finished, I am left on my own and to myself with all these questions and doubts."

"The process of writing 'Together', however, was super simple and super short. Not sure why, but I suspect that it is because it is a happier track than my earlier releases, more hopeful in a way, which now that it’s done leaves me hoping you will like it."

Out shortly on Swedish tastemaker label Sommarhjärta, you can check it out below.
