The festival season is almost upon and – for many – it's a case of ennui.
The same names, the same places… the same weather, even: each of these factors ebb away at our enthusiasm. However the growth of cheap flights has led to a surge in the popularity of continental events, meaning that the choice has never been greater for British music fans.
With that in mind, MIDI Festival looks to have something special. Set in the French riviera, the event matches stunning landscape and glorious weather to a handpicked bill which leaps across styles, genres, generations.
Running between July 26th – 28th, the bill currently boasts such attractions as The Horrors, Mount Kimbie, Peter Hook & the Light and Christopher Owens, with plenty more to be announced closer to the time.
Splashh are set to play at the summer festival, and to celebrate their performance the band agreed to piece together an on the road mixtape ahead of their trip to France.
Beal – "Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Straight up Rock n Roll Innit"
Toto – "Kurt Vile and The Violators. Came across him last year. Pretty much all I listen to in the van. Love his new album! Can't wait to see his chill vibes at a festival."
Sasha – "Animal Collective. They make pretty complex music and I've never seen them live. I love their production on the records and I'm keen to see how they pull it off."
Jacob – "Queens of the Stone Age. I love them because they are unique and have carved themselves a spot in popular music. They're badass and Homme is the Ginger Elvis!"
MIDI Festival runs between July 26th – 28th.
