Spiritualized Re-Visit Classic Album
Special concert announced
Drone rock stars Spiritualized are set to re-visit their 1997 album 'Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space' with a special concert.
Formed from the ashes of the seminal garage-psych group Spacemen 3, Spiritualized has focussed Jason Pierce's sonic ideas into vast swathes of orchestrations.
Featuring a huge cast of musicians, 'Ladies And Gentlemen...' is one of the most ambitious recordings ever put to tape. Including vast choirs and orchestras, the album expanded the group's psychedelic template to include gospel choirs, free jazz interludes and even classical forms.
The opening title track is a case in point. Introduced by a well spoken English female voice, the song evolves with repeated phrasing in canon form before exploding into shards of guitars.
A stunning artistic success, its has become Spiritualized's defining moment. The new concert will be part of the Don't Look Back series of shows, and will tie in with a new re-issue of the album.
Containing added content and new packaging, it is not known if the release will mimic the original's pharmaceutical design.
Spiritualized are set to play the following show:
October
12 London Royal Festival Hall
