American mavericks The Spinto Band have revealed that they are working on their new album - in a converted chicken coop.

The Spinto Band returned this year with a new EP. Titled 'Slim And Slender' it won the group plaudits and saw the Delaware based collective play to ever increasing crowds on their UK tour dates.

Of course, all this is a long way from their origins. Taking the name 'Free Beer' in order to get a crowd wherever they went, The Spinto Band released their initial albums via their own Spintonic label.

Gaining a cult following the band signed to a proper, grown up record label who have helped them reach a much wider audience.

However The Spinto Band's roots remain in the DIY ethos. Working on a new album the group recently revealed that they are using a recording studio built into a converted chicken coop.

"We spent the summer converting an abandoned chicken coop into a studio recording space" Nick Krill revealed.

"Our first undertaking in the coop/studio is a new Spinto Band full-length. Right now we don't have funding, but we are expecting at least three of us to receive MacArthur Genius Grants in the coming year and if that doesn't work possibly a Guggenheim Fellowship" he revealed to the NME.

Continuing, the guitarist also revealed that The Spinto Band had appealed to Razorlight singer Johnny Borrell for help. "We sent an email to resident UK genius, the Razorlight guy Johnny Borrell, asking for tips but he hasn't written back" Krill revealed.

The Spinto Band's new EP 'Slim And Slender' is out now.
