Speech Debelle Booed By Take That Fans

Karma in action?

Mercury award winning star Speech Debelle was booed by angry Take That fans at the launch of the latest 'SingStar' game.

Speech Debelle emerged from London with an unusual take on hip hop. Crafting some laid back acoustic based samples together, the rapper's downbeat flow made her stand out from aggressive macho peers.

Speaking to ClashMusic recently, the rapper revealed how if felt to be a woman in the UK hip hop scene - click HERE to read the full interview!

Of course, since then Speech Debelle has led an interesting life. The rapper released her debut album 'Speech Therapy' which stunned onlookers by waltzing away with the Mercury Music Prize.

But her victory didn't bring the success Speech Debelle craved. Arguing that label Ninja Tune's distribution system let her down the rapper suddenly quit, claiming she needed a new home to push her music.

Since then Speech Debelle's actions have been widely debated. The right of a talented performer to expect the support she deserves? Or a kick in the groin for people who worked hard on her behalf, against all the usual prejudices the mainstream holds against female artists and UK hip hop in general?

Whatever, it seems that Take That fans only care about one thing. Appearing onstage in London on Wednesday night (November 25th) the rapper attempted to perform Take That's hit 'Pray'.

Jeered by irate fans furious with her rap based performance, the hip hop star appeared shocked by their reaction. Handing the mic to host James Corden the comedian was unsympathetic: "That was shit, anyone can rap" he said, before launching into his own free-styled rhymes.
