Biographer reveals fears

Disgraced music producer Phil Spector is facing an eighteen year jail sentence, but his biographer Scott Raab has revealed he may kill himself before that begins.
Phil Spector was recently found guilty of murdering the actress Lana Clarkson at his Los Angeles home in 2003. The producer contested the verdict, but is still facing an eighteen year jail sentence.
The producer has a history of threatening behaviour. During recording sessions with both The Ramones and John Lennon Spector used a gun to get his own way, while his abysmal treatment of former wife Ronnie Spector is well known.
Now 69 years old and facing the next two decades in jail, biographer Scott Raab has told E Online that the producer may kill himself rather than go to jail.
"He's (Spector) an old man. (It's) hard to see a guy like that, at his age, surrendering to an 18-year minimum sentence."
"He would kill himself first. He is full of fear, and always was, and he lives with a sense of extreme vulnerability."
Raab went on to reveal that Spector's own father committed suicide. However the biographer also stated that he believed the judge in the case had been heavy handed. The producer was tried twice, after the first attempt was abandoned due to a split jury.
"I do think Judge Fidler was heavy-handed in both trials. I wish the conviction had been for manslaughter."
The five month re-trial ended in a guilty verdict for the charge of second degree murder. Spector has maintained that the actress shot herself.
The producer will be sentenced on May 29th.
