Spector Jury To Tour Mansion
Courtroom to visit home
The jury in the Phil Spector murder trial has been granted a tour of the producer's Los Angeles mansion.
Spector is accused of murdering the actress Lana Clarkson at his home. The previous trial ended in a split verdict, with the judge ordering a re-trial.
The prosecution in the new case rested on Friday (January 23rd) with the defence beginning its version of proceedings shortly thereafter.
In the original trial the jury also toured Spector's home, where the prosecution alleged that Spector manipulated a fountain in order to suggest his voice was muffled when he allegedly confessed to a chauffeur. Spector is alleged to have told the driver "I think I killed somebody".
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler brushed aside objections by the prosecution, with Defence Attorney Doron Weinberg stating she wished to replicate the scene of the crime.
Spector pioneered the 'Wall of Sound' method of recording in the 60s. Dominating the pop charts with a series of golden recordings, his 'symphonies for kids' remain enshrined in the bedrock of the music industry.
