First names confirmed...

Snowbombing is beginning to reveal the first names on the line up for its 2012 instalment.

Held in the Austrian alps, Snowbombing is proof that you don't need green fields and plenty of sunshine to make a festival work. Mixing snow sports and a select line up, the Mayrhofen event can stake a claim at being one of Europe's coolest events - in every sense of the world.

Returning for a fresh instalment, Snowbombing 2012 runs between April 9th - 14th. Spread across three stages, organisers have decided to build up the line up in a trilogy of announcements.

Revealing 30 artists each week, organisers kicked off the project with some very special announcements. Example is set to perform, appearing on the line up alongside dance giants and perennial festival favourites Groove Armada presenting Red Light.

Part of Snowbombing's appeal is its ability to match crowd-pleasing acts with underground talent. 2012 will be no exception, with Sheffield dancehall botherer Toddla T set to bring his eclectic set out to Austria.

Releasing his second album 'Watch Me Dance' earlier this year, Toddla T demonstrated a pop touch. Cutting slick melodies with frantic beats, the Ninja Tune signing will get the slopes running on a ragga tip.

Pearson Sound is dominating bass music right now, having put together a fine FabricLive mix earlier in 2011. Opening the New Year at 2012, David Kennedy will have some fresh productions for the Austrian crowd.

Elsewhere, Numbers lynchpin Jackmaster will demonstrate why he has been in such high demand while Bristol's Julio Bashmore will filter bass textures through his heavy house beats.

James Zabiela is on the line up, while French duo Aeroplane and Jack Beats represent more electro based flavours.

As ever, you can expect the artists to mix freely with the crowd at Snowbombing. One place where the live acts enjoy themselves as much as the ticket holders, the Austrian event has a unique atmosphere.

Snowbombing takes place between April 9th - 14th.
