Snoop Dogg and Major Lazer are to team up on a new reggae album.

Major league hip hop seems to be going through a bass phase. Cypress Hill recently hooked up with Rusko, while Snoop Dogg revealed plans to collaborate with Major Lazer earlier this year.

Diplo broke the news to MTV, explaining that the album would have a reggae feel. "Snoop Dogg is an icon, man; he's bigger than the music" he enthused. "What we're doing is a reggae record. It's like Snoop Dogg and Major Lazer together. It's all reggae and he's singing and he's doing a fucking awesome job and I never knew it, but he had his heart in every song".

Now the full details have emerged. Pitchfork reports that Snoop Dogg is set to be re-invented as Snoop Lion, with 'Reincarnated' set to be released later this year.

First single 'La La La' has emerged online. Diplo is on production, with Ariel Rechtshaid assisting in the studio. The project has seemingly been "executive produced" by Major Lazer, with the full album due to emerge later this year.
