Skins Party Huge Sucess

Hotly tipped new bands promote show

Love it or loathe it, television show Skins is a massive cultural force and the new series was launched last night (January 20th) with a party featuring some top up and coming bands.

Held in London's The Arches club, the Skins party featured some exciting new talent. Bands have appeared on the show throughout its run, with groups such as Foals gaining notable exposure from the show, albeit at the expense of indie-schmindie credibility. That said, it's still a little 'too cool for school' for the likes of us.

The gig featured Edinburgh electro wunderkind Unicorn Kid, Scottish rapper Young Father and high rising new British act You Love Her Coz She's Dead. Also on the bill were disco punks The Dead Kids, whose lead singer Mike Frankel ranted at the crowd saying "People wake up. This is not about watching TV or Coca Cola. This is about having fun!"

Skins association with music is now deepening, with audition slots held at festivals across the UK and a new record label. Amongst the acts signed to the imprint are Unicorn Kid.

The new series of Skins starts on January 22nd on E4.
