Sigur Ros Solo Project

Jonsi Bergisson confirms release

Sigur Ros frontman Jonsi Bergisson has confirmed details of his first solo album, with 'Go' due for release in 2010.

Sigur Ros are one of the most bewitching groups on the planet. Taking elegiac rock and blending it with orchestral sweeps, the band's cinematic music is unlike anything else being made right now.

Taking time off, singer Jonsi Bergisson formed Riceboy Sleeps with his partner. Playing a handful of rare shows in art galleries around Iceland, the duo released their debut album earlier this year.

Largely instrumental, during interviews at the time Jonsi Bergisson hinted at the possibility of solo material. Now the singer has confirmed that he is set to release his new album 'Go' next year.

Continually writing new material, the Icelandic singer noticed that many of his new songs didn't appear to fit into the framework of Sigur Ros. 'Go' is very distinct from the post rock group, with Jonsi Bergisson mainly singing in English.

An expansive work that stretches beyond rock, classical, ambient and electronic lines Jonsi Bergisson's new album features a raft of guest stars. Nico Muhly - who has previously appeared on albums by Bjork and Grizzly Bear - helps top arrange flourishes of woodwind and brass.

Percussive genius Samuli Kosminen also appears on the album, which was recorded with assistance from Alex Somers and Peter Katis. The sound of a superb artist breaking free of all barriers, 'Go' is an ambitious, euphoric collection.

Jonsi Bergisson is set to release his new album 'Go' on March 22nd. Tracklisting is as follows:

Go Do
Animal Arithmetic
Tornado
Boy Lilikoi
Sinking Friendships
Kolnidur
Around Us
Grow Till Tall
Hengilas
