Sigur Ros For Jodrell Bank

Icelandic group to play in path of observatory
Sigur Ros

Sigur Ros are set to take part in this year's instalment of Live At Jodrell Bank.

Each show from Sigur Ros feels like an event, an occasion to be savoured. Over the past few years the Icelandic band have rarely performed live, adding a weight of expectation to their every performance.

This summer the group are set to take part in a very special live performance. Sigur Ros are set to play in the path of Jodrell Bank observatory, one of the country's most recognisable astronomical landmarks.

Taking place on August 30th, the band's performance will be accompanied by unique visuals - plans are even afoot to project directly onto the iconic telescope. Founded in 2011, Live At Jodrell Bank has quickly become one of the country's most acclaimed outdoor events.

Elbow played last summer, and were so touched by the performance that the Bury band plan to release the set as their first ever live DVD.

A quick quote from Guy Garvey: "Jodrell was a dream come true. All the thrills of space exploration for a band of the Star Wars generation, plus some pretty amazing cold war era hardware. Thanks to everyone who stood in the rain right through to the end, you made it the best gig ever!... ooooooh Jodrellites."

Tickets for Sigur Ros' performance at Jodrell Bank go on sale this Friday (January 18th) at 9am.
