Shins Singer For Movie

James Mercer, frontman of acclaimed US group The Shins, has been confirmed as playing the lead in a forthcoming feature-length film, it has been announced.

Mercer will star in the film 'Some Days Are Better Than Others' which is set to be directed by Matt McCormick. A long time collaborator with the band, McCormick has worked on previous Shins videos including 'The Past And Pending'.

In a new interview the director describes the film as being "about lonely people trying to create their own abstract forms of communication".

McCormick added that "with James, the character he plays is in many ways an extension of the character that I created for him in The Shins' 'The Past and Pending' video I did a while back. While writing the script, James sort of became this character by default."

'Some Days Are Better Than Others' will open in Autumn 2009.
