'Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows' New Trailer

Pyrotechnics & Possible Death?

I wrote an effusive news piece on Holmes during the summer when the first trailer for 'A Game Of Shadows' was released. It wasn't focused on Robert Downey Junior’s turn per se, rather the literary character of Holmes himself. I am a massive fan; of the original books and the various large and small screen adaptations that have popped up over the years.

I loathe that Guy Ritchie had turned this most sacrosanct of detectives into a great big boiled ham and instigated more explosions during a day that London would be witness to in a year. However, my fandom is such that I still watched it. And wasn't quite as offended as I thought I would be.

So, without further ado here is your opportunity to view the newly released trailer (I confess I miss the days when a film had but one). It has even more explosions, more slow motion fight sequences and even more brotherly repartee. So far, so expected.

It's based on one of Conan Doyles most celebrated tales, 'The Final Problem' which sees Holmes tackle his most feared and evenly matched adversary, Professor Moriarty (Jared Harris). Robert Downey Junior again plays the eponymous hero with Jude Law as his solid sidekick Watson; thrillingly joined by Stephen Fry as Mycroft (Holmes elder brother). Rachel McAdams is also back alongside the new addition of a mysterious Romani vamp, played by Noomi Rapace.

Sherlock Holme: A Game Of Shadows' hits UK cinema's on 16th December 2011.
