Go and check out this year’s submissions

The launch of this year’s Secret 7” exhibition is imminent. On 13 th and 14th April the gallery space at Ad agency Mother will be opened up between 10am – 6pm and all 700 unique covers will be on show for anyone to come down and take a look. You’ll also be able to purchase a cover from the following Saturday (20th April).

However if you can’t wait that long, all 700 covers can be viewed at the initiative’s website from today.

Now in it’s second year, Secret 7” is an initiative between Universal Music and the charity Art Against Knives. 7 songs are provided by Universal artists and artists select one to use as inspiration for designing a 7” cover sleeve. The designers behind the covers range from world-renowned artists to creatives of all backgrounds. This years contributors include Ai Weiwei, Gilbert & George, David Shrigley, Paul Insect, Simon Bisley and many more.

Each Cover contains a specially pressed 7” of the song that the design is based on but the artist behind is not revealed until you have bought the copy.

To help you understand the concept and also educate you in how vinyl are pressed we have a beautiful little video that explains it better than we ever could.
