Seaside Steve Busks Outside Brits
Blues star performs for crowds
Blues star Seasick Steve startled passers by when he began busking before the Brits at the Earls Court tube station.
Seasick Steve has risen from a travelling hobo to become a well respected blues musician in the UK. The American born singer is apparently 67 years old (although he isn't exactly sure) and has spent some time in Norway, where he worked in a recording studio.
Courtesy of a few choice festival slots, a now legendary appearance on Jools Holland and an acclaimed album or two the song and dance man has reached a level of semi-fame.
This newly won popularity didn't stop him startling passers by at Earl's Court tube station, though.
The singer even flouted London Underground's strict alcohol ban, with the Daily Mirror reporting the musician saying that "I heard you're not allowed to drink but I think I'm gonna need a few."
“I'm not playing at the awards - I'm going to be drinking. What else do you do at these things?"
Seasick Steve was nominated in the category 'Best International Male'. He eventually lost to Kanye West.
It is not known how much he drank.
