Performance poet Scroobius Pip is to collect some of his writing in a new book.

Scroobius Pip began life as a maverick on the spoken word circuit. Inspired by golden age hip hop icons such as Rakim, the poet merged rap techniques with more traditional literary approaches.

Joining forces with producer Dan Le Sac, Scroobius Pip has turned his poetry into music. With their second album nestling on the horizon, the performance poet has now confirmed he is working on a print collection.

Speaking to fans on MySpace, Scroobius Pip revealed the collection is called 'Poetry In (E) Motion'. Revealing more details the poet intends to team up with fans to help him illustrate his writing.

"It was in equal parts torturous and joyous," Pip says on his MySpace blog.

"Realising that such talented people on the other side of the world were taking such time over a little project I had dreamed up in my bedroom in Stanford le hope, Essex, just added to the excitement of it all."

Continuing, the poet revealed that publishers Titan had initially wanted to get some professional illustrators involved. "For this meeting I printed up a range of my favourite submissions. I waited kind of nervously as Katy and Ricky from Titan looked over the submissions."

"After a few minutes of looking through all the samples it was clear to them that there was no need to get “the professionals” in. The standard of work submitted had stunned them as much as it had been stunning me for the last two years!"

Continuing, Scroobius Pip added that the book is set to contain a foreword by actor and "hip hop enthusiast" Nick Frost. The poet is set to release his first collection 'Poetry In (E) Motion' in March.

Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip are to release their new album 'Logic Of Chance' on March 14th.
