Two years in the making
Scorsese Helms George Harrison Biopic

Director Martin Scorsese has detailed his next project, a film about the life of The Beatles' George Harrison.

Working with Harrison's widow, Olivia, the documentary follows two years of research through family archives and promises to cover Harrison's entire life with un-seen footage, photographs and music from the musician.

Triggered by his admiration of George Harrison's work, Scorsese explained his desire to work on the project, "His music is very important to me, so I was interested in the journey that he took as an artist. The film is an exploration.”

Olivia Harrison has been instrumental in the documentary's research and said of Scorsese's involvement, "Marty had a connection with George, and they spent some time together. He is as passionate about film and music as George was passionate about music and film."

The documentary is scheduled for a 2011 release.
