Satriani Plans Coldplay Surprise
Guitarist to hound group at Grammys
American guitarist Joe Satiriani has upped the stakes in his plagiarism case against Coldplay by announcing he is to hound the group at the forthcoming Grammy Awards.
The case arose after Satiriani alleged the band's track 'Viva La Vida' borrowed segments of a piece he had written some years before. Which is strange, as Chris Martin doesn't look like a fan of grandiose, over-blown, self-indulgent fret work.
Satriani's lawyer Howard King has claimed a fleet of process servers would "dog the band" at the Grammy Awards ceremony in order to ensure legal papers are delivered.
In a statement after the allegations first arose the band said "with the greatest possible respect to Joe Satriani, we have now unfortunately found it necessary to respond publicly to his allegations." Before adding that any similarity was a coincidence.
Satriani in turn was said to be devastated upon first hearing the track. "I felt like a dagger went right through my heart. It hurt so much" he claimed in a statement.
