Santogold Changes Name

Sensational American singer Santogold has changed her name - but has not told fans why she felt the need to change.

Born plain Santi White, the name 'Santogold' was given to her due to her over-sized gold jewellery. The singer moved into the music industry, writing songs for a variety of other artists before striking out on her own.

Santogold's debut album was one of last year's surprise delights, a mix of new wave, electro and Jamaican influences with a handy pop sheen. Spawning the semi-hit 'L.E.S. Artists' the album went on to figure highly in those pesky end of year polls.

The Brooklyn based artist has the following to say: “Santogold is now Santigold. She’s not telling you why, that’s just how it is. No unpronounceable symbol, no numbers where they shouldn’t be, no random capitalization, just plain ass Santigold so remember that."

Last year Baltimore artist Santo Rigatuso filed a suit against Santogold, claiming he has been using the name for some time.

So in conclusion, Santogold = Santigold.
