Santigold Underage Slot
London event expands bill
The world's first under 19s festival Underage has secured a stunning exclusive with Santigold set to play her a rare UK date at the event.
Tired of being turned away from shows on account of his age, Sam Kilcoyne took the logical next step - he started organising shows of his own. Restricting entrance to those under 18, his clubnight became a sensation sparking numerous copycat events across the country.
With all the bravado and ambition of youth Kilcoyne then took a bold leap into the unknown - he organised a full scale festival. A sea of pubescent faces, Underage has become a permanent fixture on the summer schedule, taking over London's Victoria Park for one day of solid musical mayhem.
This year's event promises to be extra special with Brooklyn singer Santigold set to drop by. Her debut album was one of last year's most spectacular pop debuts, mashing together new wave, electro and dancehall sounds to craft something truly addictive.
Other new additions to the bill include The Horrors. The black-clad group released their debut album in 2007 to a less than over-whelming release, but their new album has already set tongues wagging thanks to the sublime free download single 'The Sea Within A Sea'.
Underage is also set to promote young talent this year. The Youth Music scheme will give four lucky bands the chance to perform at the event, alongside such stars as Ladyhawke, Kissy Sell Out and more.
Underage festival takes place on August 2nd.
