Featuring an enormous cast...

The life and work of Sandy Denny will be remembered in a series of concerts later this year.

No one quite knew how to place Sandy Denny. Part of the folk revival, her deeply personal songwriting was informed by the emerging West Coast scene. A female artist in a male environment, her work is impossible to place yet difficult to ignore.

Which is perhaps why an upcoming series of tribute concerts have such a diverse cast. 'The Lady: A Homage to Sandy Denny' features folk greats and bona fide pop stars, indie figures and left field outcasts.

Moving around the country, the cast will re-envisage the work of Sandy Denny on a nightly basis. Figures such as Dave Swarbrick and Blair Dunlop (The Albion Band) - who actually knew and worked with Denny - will rub shoulders with folk newcomers, including Bellowhead.

Far removed from the folk tradition, Joan Wasser (aka Joan As Policewoman), Green Gartside, PP Arnold and Maddy Prior will also be paying tribute to the late singer.

The wide-ranging cast will be joined by Lavinia Blackwall (of Glaswegian avant folk darlings Trembling Bells), Sam Carter, Ben Nicholls and more.

Opening in Liverpool on May 19th, the tour will visit Nottingham, Brighton and Coventry. A one off show in London finds the varied ensemble descending on the Barbican, for a night of fond tributes to Sandy Denny.

Ending in Manchester on May 28th, tickets are on sale now.
