Sailor Jerry's Ink City is set to head to Bestival for a weekend of live tattooing and music.

Not many people know this, but Sailor Jerry was once a real person. Norman Collins was an American sailor as well as being the father of American tattooing and his fame helped inspire the Caribbean rum that bears his name.

Sailor Jerry’s Ink City, returning to Bestival for a second year, celebrates the tattoo shops of Hotel Street in Honolulu’s Chinatown along with the loud music and bars that entertained sailors crossing the Pacific.

Bestival is already a unique event, blending an eclectic bill with devoted fans who throw themselves into the fancy dress theme. Sailor Jerry's Ink City will add another flavour to proceedings and the entire, weekend long bill has been unveiled.

Spread across three days, Ink City has already confirmed appearances from Dutch Uncles, Niki & The Dove, Tall Ships and more.

Elsewhere, Frank Turner is due to perform following a successful year which has taken him into the Top Ten albums. However the hardcore troubadour yearns for something heavier, and recently revealed that he is planning to launch a new project next year.

Set to headline Friday at the Ink City, the Oxford singer will be joined by politically motivated types The King Blues, London scuzzed up punks Mazes and more.

Saturday brings grunge kids Yuck, while Bright Light Bright Light will unveil their beautiful songwriting. Canadian newcomers Tribes are set to keep the Ink City crowds entertained, before Manchester oddballs Dutch Uncles finish off the day.

The final day opens with The Secret Sisters before Alex Winston takes control. Swedish duo Niki & The Dove are set to perform, with the fast rising pair plotting the release of their upcoming EP 'The Drummer'.

Finishing with Tweak Bird, fans will be kept entertained throughout the weekend by special guests, live tattoo artistry and of course plenty of Sailor Jerry.

Bestival runs between September 9th - 11th.
