Ryan Adams Inspired By Ronnie Dio
New material on the way
Alt country star Ryan Adams has been moved to write a batch of new material after attending the funeral of metal icon Ronnie Dio.
A massively successful rock star, Ronnie Dio inspired a generation of young teens to pick up the guitar. Going on to lead varied lives, these include some rock stars such as Metallica and - somewhat bizarrely - Ryan Adams.
The alt country star travelled to the metal icon's funeral in Los Angeles, and was apparently so moved that he began writing a batch of new material. Speaking to fans on his Facebook page, Ryan Adams explained that he had almost a dozen songs ready to record.
"11 new solo tunes came out of nowhere," Adams said. "Day after Dio's funeral they just fell out. Soft mellow acoustic jams - lots of New Orleans scenery and vibe from the trip."
He added: "I am official[ly] very excited again."
It's not known when the material will be released. Ronnie Dio's funeral was a lavish event, which paid tribute to a singer who had entertained countless fans across the globe.
Elsewhere on Facebook, Ryan Adams said: It's getting late out here and if I don't see you folks on here tomorrow, remember... .......HAVE A GREAT F'n WEEKEND!!!!! woo hooo.... and That's and ORDER!!!!!! Love, Dr. Fantasy Pinball Pants, M.D the 3rd. .... XOXOXOXO"
Meanwhile, Ryan Adams is still recovering from the success of 'Orion'. His first new album in some time, the record was centred on a sci-fi concept and included some definite metal influences.
Labelling it "his first fully-realised sci-fi metal concept album" the record was released on limited edition vinyl and almost immediately sold out.
This isn't the first time Ryan Adams has experimented with his roots in heavy rock - the singer recently released a hair metal anthem via an American blog.
