Owen Pallet to score strings
British neo-soul types The Rumble Strips have been working on their second album, and acclaimed artist Owen Pallet aka Final Fantasy has been brought in to produce some orchestral scores.
Led by Charlie Waller, The Rumble Strips released their debut album to no little acclaim in 2007. However, the group found the charts a bit more difficult to crack. New sessions with Mark Ronson may result in a smash hit, with the producer seemingly churing out hits as easily as tying his shoelaces.
Sessions for the album have been going well, with Owen Pallet brought in to assist on orchestral arrangements. Of his involvement, Pallet said:
"I'm excited... I don't get to run orchestral sessions as much as I'd like. It's a real treat for me. Working with the band and Ronson has been easy"
"The album is the most infectious record I've ever worked on. It reminds me a bit of The La's."
"A record made by a rock band sounds like a studio, or a bar. It sounds like fitted jeans and cigarettes. An orchestra, on the other hand, can put a song in a range of times or places. It can put Scott Walker in Copenhagen, or Sinatra in Vegas, or Aerosmith in space."
Rumble Strips' second album should be released later this year.
