Hip hop giants The Roots have revealed the first acts for this year's Roots Picnic in Philadelphia.

Hosted each year by The Roots, Roots Picnic takes place at the city's Festival Pier. With the group now abandoning live performances to act as the in house band on a chat show, this is one of the few chances fans will get to catch the band in the flesh.

Joining the live action hip hop dons this year will be Public Enemy playing a very special set. According to American magazine Billboard the band will play their seminal album 'It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back' in its entirety.

Also on the bill this year are Ohio blues duo The Black Keys. Playing a striking take on the sounds of the delta, the band sit alongside newly renamed Santigold and acclaimed rockers TV On The Radio.

TV On The Radio released their latest album 'Dear Science' last year. An epic, ambitious and confusing album it was hailed on its release as being a landmark American album.

DJs at the event will include Cash Money and Jazzy Jeff.

Roots Picnic takes place at the Festival Pier, Philadelphia on June 6th.
