Band to cover funeral expenses

The Rolling Stones have stepped in to pay the funeral expenses of blues guitarist Hubert Sumlin.
As Muddy Waters once sang, the blues had a baby and they named it rock 'n' roll. The Rolling Stones built their early career on R&B greats, and the seminal rock outfit have never quite forgotten their roots.
The death of blues guitarist Hubert Sumlin earlier this week brought this debt into sharp relief. Famed for his work with Howlin' Wolf, the guitarist was an important influence on the nascent Rolling Stones.
Now Keith Richards and Mick Jagger have stepped in to pay for the guitarist's funeral expenses. A message from Sumlin's partner Toni Ann confirmed the news (via Noise11): “I just wanted to share with you, Hubert’s loving fans, that Mick Jagger and Keith Richards have insisted on picking up the full expenses for Hubert’s funeral. God Bless the Rolling Stones”.
Earlier this week, Toni Ann broke the news of her partner's passing. “It is with a heavy heart that the worse has come to fruition. My little Hubert is living the life of a real angel. I’m overwhelmed with grief and so I really need to pull myself together. I’d really appreciate it if you would kindly respect our privacy during this most difficult time."
Amongst the first musicians to pay their respects were The Rolling Stones. Keith Richards said in a statement: "With sorrow I received the news of Hubert's passing. He put up a long hard fight. To me he was an uncle and a teacher, and all the guitar players must feel the same as myself."
Meanwhile, Mick Jagger said: "Hubert was an incisive yet delicate blues player. He had a really distinctive and original tone, and was a wonderful foil for Howlin' Wolf's growling vocal style."
A private service for Hubert Sumlin will be held in Homewood, Illinois on December 13th. A public service for fans will be held on December 12th at 10am at the Festa Memorial Funeral Home in Totowa, New Jersey.
