Rolling Stones Glastonbury Set Ruled Out

Rumours are just rumours...

Press officers have been quick to quash speculation that The Rolling Stones are set to play next summer's Glastonbury.

It all began with a single newspaper report. British tabloid The Sunday Mirror reported an un-named source close to the Rolling Stones who insisted that the legendary rockers were set to play Glastonbury.

Going further, the source then claimed that the headline set would be their final ever show. "All four members have agreed that next year is the right time to have one final hurrah and put on the gig of their lives. It's a case of now or never, and obviously Glastonbury is the most important festival on the circuit. Everybody's incredibly excited... it's a final bow."

However it seems that in this case the un-named source has got it wrong. ClashMusic have just been on the phone to The Rolling Stones' press representatives, who have confirmed that the story is not true.

Gearing up for their anniversary, The Rolling Stones have sparked all manner of outlandish rumours. A tour seems certain, although the exact details, as ever, remain frustratingly unconfirmed.

Here's the band blasting through 'Brown Sugar' in Texas during a 1972 show.
