With just days to go, excitement is mounting for this weekend’s Rockness.
Fatboy Slim, having headlined back in 2006, will be returning to the breathtaking beauty of historic Loch Ness to headline this Saturday night and Razorlight will be doing the job on the Sunday in their only festival date this summer.
Joining them over the weekend will be the likes of indie big guns Editors, The Cribs, Mylo, Calvin Harris, Hadouken!, and Digitalism to name a few.
And most importantly to lovers of all things Clash, the Clash Arena will return to come flying out of the blocks after last year’s undoubted summer highlight of Daft Punk’s unforgettable headline set. The Clash Arena features a stunning line-up of electronic, dance and rock’s most exciting names. Gracing our stage will be dance supremos Underworld, Brazilian party starters CSS, the effortlessly cool Roisin Murphy and what party would be complete without Simian Mobile Disco? In the indie quarter we have popsters The View, brummie faves The Twang, the ever eccentric Mystery Jets and Norway’s psychedelic popsters The Lionheart Brothers with many more on the bill to unseat your feet.
The Rizla Invisible Players are back with a 2008 arena fronted by four modern clubbing icons. Greg Wilson, the original dance resident at the Hacienda, who caused a near riot when he hit the Rizla Arena last year, is joined by Annie Nightingale of Radio 1, hip-hop artist Kid Acne and Justin Robertson who remixes for the likes of Bjork, Radio 4 and Chicago house legend Felix Da Housecat.
New arenas have been added for 2008 where Felix will be making his own performance headlining the Skins Live arena and the Mardi Gras inspired SoCo Social will feature a live performance from Kitsune’s David E Sugar and DJ sets from Mylo, DJ Yoda and Rex the Dog.
DJ Rob Da Bank is proud to have inventors of ambient house The Orb topping his Sunday Best bill and will also be featuring in line-ups himself.
Festival Director Jim King says: “The line up is shaping up really nicely. The Orb are a great addition to Rockness and will definitely be one of the highlights as will the debuts from Pendulum DJs, Midnight Juggernauts and Boys Noize. It’s definitely going to be the best Rockness ever.”
Simon Harper, Editor of Clash Magazine, adds: “The Clash Arena is returning for another monster performance especially for Loch Ness and we couldn’t be more excited. We’re proud to support another Scottish institution by presenting the cream of the music world’s talent with another suitably diverse and electrifying line up. Just don’t expect any work done on Monday!”
