Ringo Starr Plots New Album

Semi-autobiographical...

Ringo Starr is planning to release a new album partially based on his own life.

Of the four members of The Beatles, Ringo Starr's life story has received the least attention. George Harrison wrote his autobiography - the well worth reading 'I Me Mine' - and both John Lennon and Paul McCartney have enjoyed lavish biographies.

Yet Ringo Starr remains, to an extent, in the shadows. Speaking to Uncut recently, the drummer explained that while he had been offered book deals, he had decided to turn them all down.

"I have been offered autobiographies but they only really wanna know about is those eight years in The Beatles and there would be three volumes before I even got to that" he explained.

The legendary drummer could have a point. Ringo Starr was already a lynchpin of the Mersey scene before joining The Beatles, and has spent a total of 41 years doing a variety of other activities.

Instead, Ringo Starr has opted to begin work on a semi-autobiographical new album. "I am actually making a record about Liverpool. It's about me and Liverpool. It's like I've decided to do mini-autobiographies, instead of writing a book, I'm doing it on record" he said.

Continuing, the drummer explained: "Right now, I'd rather put it quickly in a song, snippets of part of my life. Everybody talks about the Cavern Club, but in this new track, I actually mention the Iron Door, which was a much better club, it was more of a real rock club."

Ringo Starr's life story has been making headlines of late, with fans aiming to save his childhood home from demolition. Centred in the Dingle area of Liverpool, the house is ear-marked to make way for a new development.

Meanwhile, Ringo Star is planning a lengthy European tour. The drummer has confirmed a number of British dates, opening in London on June 17th and travelling around the country.
