Richard Hawley Re-Opens Landmark
Singer In Lady's Bridge Ceremony
Sheffield musical legend Richard Hawley is set to re-open the landmark Lady's Bridge in his native city of Sheffield this week, it has been announced.
The former Pulp and Longpigs man turned solo singer takes inspiration from his surroundings. The 2006 album 'Cole's Corner' was named after a famous spot in Sheffield while its follow up 'Lady's Bridge' was also inspired by a place in his hometown.
Hawley combines a love of classic dancehall era ballads with a modern production sense. An acclaimed performer, he has been an influence on the work of Arctic Monkeys and has helped Tony Christie record his new album.
The actual bridge has been closed since November 2007, following major flooding. Since then it has undergone an extensive facelift and is now set to be re-opened to the public.
Hawley will perform the ceremony on Wednesday (December 11th) at 6.45pm.
