Richard Hawley Changes Direction
New album due on May 7th
Richard Hawley is set to release his new album ‘Standing At The Sky’s Edge’ on May 7th.
Richard Hawley is an undoubtedly gifted musician. A revered guitarist and songwriter, the Northern crooner has found widespread success by channelling pre-rock 'n' roll standards with modern production.
Now the Sheffield based artist is planning to take a left turn. Richard Hawley is set to release ‘Standing At The Sky’s Edge’ on May 7th, and - according to the press release, at least - fans should prepare themselves for something completely different.
Apparently a mixture of "psychedelia, space rock and ragas with heavy riffs and raw, visceral guitar solos" the album is intended as a sharp left turn from the songwriter.
A quote from Richard Hawley: “I wanted to get away from the orchestration of my previous records and make a live album with two guitars, bass, drums and rocket noises!”
The title? In keeping with Hawley tradition the name 'Standing At The Sky’s Edge' is inspired by an area of Sheffield. Some things never change...
