Reverend And The Makers / Bragg Team Up
New Prison Scheme Announced
Revered And The Makers and Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly were amongst a host of artists who joined legendary folkie Billy Bragg onstage yesterday (November 27th) as part of his Jail Guitar Doors scheme.
Bragg has kept the scheme going almost single-handedly, arguing that by teaching prisoners to play music he is helping their rehabilitation. The new concert was an impromptu set at the Gibson Guitar Studio in London, and featured a host of guest stars.
'Jail Guitar Doors' is named after an incendiary B-side on The Clash's 'Clash City Rockers' single. A short film was shown, which featured Hard-Fi's Richard Archer and Foo Fighters' guitarist Chris Shiflett traveling the country.
Reverend and the Makers singer Jon McLure helped Bragg sing a version of Bob Marley's 'Redemption Song' before Get Cape singer Sam Duckworth sang Bragg's own 'Greetings To The New Brunette'.
Former members of The Clash were due to appear in aid of the project, but were unable to attend.
