The Replacements

US alt rock legends The Replacements will have their back catalogue remastered and re-issued in the US this Autumn, it has been announced.

Led by Paul Westerburg, the band were the first American alternative group to sign with a major label, yet mainstream success passed them by. Their ramshackle charm frequently resulted in chaotic gigs as the inebriated band stumbled around and smashed their instruments, but in between the bouts of madness the group produced some of the most affecting, anthemic songs to emerge from that period in American music.

The band signed to Sire records in 1985, and it is their four album for this label that will be re-issued. Beginning with the classic "Tim", this period of work captures the band struggling to adjust to commercial life - yet ironically producing some of their best work. The albums include tracks such as "Date To Church" - featuring Tom Waits - and a demo of "Kiss Me On The BUs" which was produced by punk sticksman Tommy Ramone.

The Replacements re-issue programme begins on September 23rd and includes the albums "Tim", "Pleased To Meet Me", Don't Tell A Soul" and "All Shook Down".
