REM Re-Issue Announced

'Murmur' Gets Expansive Treatment

US alternative rock gods REM are set to re-issue their debut album 'Murmur' is expanded form, to be released on November 25th in the US it has been announced.

Having spent the past selling twenty years selling bucketloads of albums, its difficult to imagine the fledgling REM earnestly pushing their debut album into the hands of critics. 1983's 'Murmur' shows little sign of the stadium sized melancholy they would use to such success, but it is nonetheless a classic album.

With Michael Stipe's vocals hidden deep in the mix, 'Murmur' is a mysterious album that synthesizes many of the band's formative influences. In the new re-issue, these influences are explored on the second disc, a live set recorded shortly after the album was released. Containing many early songs from the album, as well as the 'Chronic Town EP', the live set also includes formative versions of tracks destined for future albums such as 'Reckoning'.
