Radiohead In The Studio

New material under way

Enigmatic Oxford giants Radiohead have revealed that they have entered the studio to begin working on their new album.

Some bands begin trends, some bands define them. But Radiohead have transcended all this by introducing a whole new chapter in the music industry. The famously tech-friendly group released their album 'In Rainbows' as a pay what you like download, with the album heralding a new means of distributing music.

Aside from the economics of the situation, 'In Rainbows' was also the group's finest album in almost a decade. Much more cohesive than previous efforts, but retaining the experimentation of their post 'Kid A' period, the album flew to the top of the charts in both Britain and the United States.

Recently winning a Grammy, 'In Rainbows' has become a modern day benchmark, with any web related activity often referred to by punters (and critics, if we're honest) as 'doing a Radiohead'.

Speaking to NME, Colin Greenwood revealed that Radiohead have now gone back into the studio to try and top this album."We've just started work last week" the musician revealed.

"It's really cool and everything is sounding great. It's early days and it is a bit like having a scrapbook at the moment because everything is up in the air, but it's good to be back in the studio."

The band are set to re-unite with Nigel Godrich, responsible for producing every Radiohead album since 1997's epic 'OK Computer'.

"He's brilliant," Greenwood affirmed.

"He can make everything sound like it's working together rather than us trying to kill each other."

Lead singer Thom Yorke has been busy of late. The singer and activist blogged to fans urging them to sign a new petition, and also released a special remix of solo track 'Harrowdown Hill' to celebrate Barack Obama's victory in the American election.

Radiohead left EMI in 2006, and are now signed to XL Recordings. It is not known when the group will release their new album, or what inventive way they will find to distribute their material.

Radiohead are confirmed for Reading and Leeds this summer.
