Event heads to Carlisle

Foo Fighters, Lady Gaga and more are set to head to Carlisle for this year's instalment of Radio 1's Big Weekend.

One of the biggest free entry events of the summer, Radio 1's Big Weekend moves from city to city each year. Often focussing on less visited areas of the country, the event is due to plant itself in Carlisle this summer.

Running between May 14th and 15th, Radio 1's Big Weekend has caused a stir with its line up. Broadcast to the entire nation on television and radio, Foo Fighters are due to headline the epic event.

Returning with a new album, Foo Fighters confirmed two shows at the enormous Milton Keynes Bowl earlier this year. Selling out the concerts effortlessly, the band are also due to headline Scotland's T In The Park.

Now Foo Fighters have confirmed an appearance at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend. The band will headline the massive event, topping a bill which contains some high profile if extremely commercial names.

On Saturday (May 14th) the Main Stage will feature Black Eyed Peas, Tinie Tempah, Chase & Status and more.

Meanwhile, Sunday (May 15th) will be occupied by high profile performances courtesy of Olly Murs, Professor Green, The Script and more. Globally recognised pop icon Lady Gaga is also set to perform, making what could well be her first visit to Carlisle.

A small yet immaculately formed town, Carlisle has a place in all our hearts due to the infamous Carlisle Curse. Placed on the area due to the actions of the Border Reivers, the curse is controversially enshrined on stone in the Cumbrian town.

Will Lady Gaga fall victim to the Carlisle Curse? Time will tell...
