Pussy Riot Members To Be Freed

Under Russian amnesty

An amnesty from Russian authorities is set to free members of Pussy Riot.

It began with a guerilla gig and ended in global infamy. Pussy Riot attempted to play a show in a Moscow cathedral, chanting anti-authoritarian slogans in the process.

Caught on camera, the show landed three members in court. Handed jail sentences, two musicians remain behind bars.

Now, though, a fresh amnesty from Vladimir Putin could see the protestors freed. The new legislation is designed to tie in with the 20th anniversary of the Russian constitution, and should also see the Arctic30 activists released from prison.

The Guardian broke the news, and also point out that the move could occur immediately - in theory, Pussy Riot could be freed from prison tomorrow (December 19th).

More on this as it happens.
