Public Enemy’s Flavor Flav Arrested

On suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and battery
Public Enemy’s Flavor Flav Arrested

Public Enemy’s Flavor Flav has again found himself in trouble with the law after being detained for allegedly threatening his fiancée and her 17-year-old son with a knife. Having been apprehended at 3:30am at the Las Vegas residence he shares with partner Elizabeth Trujillo, he was taken to Clark County jail with bail being set at $23,000 (around £14,000) and a court appearance scheduled for later today.

This arrest is the latest in a long line of incidents Flav, 53, has had to deal with throughout his career. In 1991 he pleaded guilty to assaulting his then girlfriend and served 30 days in jail and in 1993 he shot at a neighbour, resulting in 90 days behind bars. His longest jail term to date was the 9 weeks he served in 2002 in relation to numerous driving and probation related offences but he could be facing up to 6 years in prison if convicted on these charges.

The news comes after a successful few months for Public Enemy as it was announced they were amongst the nominees to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year and they scored a top 10 hit in the UK charts with Harder Than You Think, which was used as the theme song for this summer’s Paralympic Games.

Public Enemy are due to headline the Freeze Festival in London on October 27th.
