Prince Performs LA Shows
Three performances in one night
One of the most popular performers on the planet announced his return on Saturday night (March 28th) with Prince playing three consecutive shows.
Prince's career revival continues. Since playing his historic residency at the O2 Arena the synth-funk star has watched in amazement as the public dramatically re-embrace his music. The star is set to release three albums in one package, and has unveiled the new material - what else? - three shows in one night.
Available in the United States now, 'MPLSoUND' and 'LOtUSFLOW3R' are much anticipated however little has been heard of the new material. Prince has played some secret shows, including a party on the night of the Oscars, but public performances have been few and far between.
Prince played three marathon sets at Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE, Conga Room and Club Nokia, extending his final set far beyond the downtown venue's 2:00 am curfew.
The singer dressed in a rather sedate black and white, belying his nickname as 'The Purple One'. Performing a number of classics alongside new material, the singer also ran through a select batch of covers such as Elvis Presley's 'All Shook Up' and Jimi Hendrix's 'Spanish Castle Magic'.
Prince battled sound troubles at the Nokia Theatre, and joked to the audience that if the sound were better he'd play for free, but since it's not he had to charge his usual three million.
Amongst the guest stars at the shows were 80s protégé Sheila E and Chaka Khan, reports the Los Angeles Time.
