Primal Scream Suicide Cover
Lydia Lunch team up confirmed
Dance rock greats Primal Scream have confirmed that they are to release a very special Suicide cover with New York avant gardist Lydia Lunch.
One of the pioneers of electronic music, Suicide rank amongst the most influential musicians alive today. Still, technically, an ongoing project singer Alan Vega's 70th birthday recently was the cause for much celebration.
Label blastfirstpetite has been releasing a series of EPs, containing an unusual cover and an unreleased Suicide track. Previous releases have contained reworkings by The Horrors and Bruce Springsteen's stunning take on 'Dream Baby Dream'.
Primal Scream are set to contribute to a forthcoming EP, and have roped in No Wave screamer Lydia Lunch to help them. Lunch was inspired by Vega's take-no-shit stage routine, as well as his group's use of electronic noise.
Primal Scream will record a version of 'Diamonds, Furcoat, Champagne' which will be released on March 30th. On the B-side Lydia Lunch will tackle the disturbing 'Frankie Teardrop', the tale of an unemployed Vietnam veteran who murders his family. Also included on the EP is an unreleased version of 'Frankie Teardrop', taken from a rare Suicide rehearsal reel.
Primal Scream / Lydia Lunch's Suicide tribute will be released on March 30th.
