From Manchester to Paris (and back again...)

Twin clubbing capitals, Manchester and Paris are quite distinct.

Different cultures, different attitudes - even a different language - combine to keep the cities apart.

Yet Y.O.U - Your Own Universe - has managed to traverse this. Based in Manchester, the producer managed to attract the attention of Parisian tastemaker and Tigersushi owner, Joakim Bouaziz.

Temporarily moving to the French capital, Y.O.U began work on material which forms the basis of his debut album.

Ahead of this, though, the English artist - real name Elliott Williams - is planning a new EP. 'Heavy Crown' is out now on Tigersushi, with its three tracks helping to explore a clipped, restrained approach to the point where post-punk met synth-pop.

The title cut recalls James Murphy's more reflective moments, while that guitar break is sheer Gang Of Four. Bass-heavy pop music with a brooding edge, you can listen to it below:
