Premiere: Taka – ‘Delicate Madness’

MONO guitarist prepares left field solo project...

Takaakira 'Taka' Goto is a composer based in Tokyo, best known for his lengthy association with MONO.

A founder member of the post-rock outfit, the guitarist has also been patiently building a collection of solo material.

Launching work on a solo album back in 2003, the musician decided to shelve the material. Slowly exploring each track, the Japanese composer now feels ready to unveil his music.

New album 'Classical Punk and Echoes Under The Beauty' is forthcoming, with Taka commenting: "I wasn't actually thinking about sharing this album with anyone at the time. It didn't sound like MONO, so I left it as a trail to my envisioned world, as my personal collection."

Out on April 27th, Clash is able to premiere new track 'Delicate Madness'. Aspects of MONO's orchestral crunch remain, but there's an infectious sparsity to the sound which is quite new.

Definitely one for fans of Mogwai, Explosions In The Sky or even the Erased Tapes roster, you can dive in below:

As if that wasn't enough, MONO are set to re-release a photobook and live album on April 14th. Featuring 100 pages of black and white photography with two CDs of live recordings from their last European tour, the package will be limited to just 700 copies.
