Christmas is a time for being with loved ones, for spending time with friends and family.
With that in mind, Maps is clearly in a festive mood. Releasing new single 'You Will Find A Way' the producer decided to throw open the remix process to fans, creating a brand new competition in the process.
Stems were downloaded, remixes were uploaded and the judging process commenced. Maps' James Chapman promised to listen to each and every one, taking the judging process as seriously as aspiring producers had taken the remix competition itself.
The winner will receive their remix included on a forthcoming Maps release, an Ableton Live 9: Standard Version, and a signed vinyl copy of recent album 'Vicissitude'. The remix with the highest number of public votes receives a signed copy of 'Vicissitude'.
The results are set to be unveiled via Filter.com this afternoon. Before then, though, Clash is pretty gosh darn pleased to be able to premiere a new festive effort from Maps.
'Merry Christmas (My Friend)' is a soft, tender ode to the season of goodwill. Delicately pieced together, the hushed, gauzed electronics hinge on Chapman's voice, with his quivering delivery expressing both the human warmth and plunging temperature of Yuletide.
Listen to it now.
The new issue of Clash magazine is out right now. It's always on the money with breakthrough acts worth listening to. So, go and see.
