Italian synth-pop-rockin' pair M+A are to release their second album, titled 'These Days', via Monotreme on September 30th. And ahead of then, Clash can premiere the track 'B Song', yours to hear below.
The band - Michele Ducci and Alessandro Degli Angioli - retain the expert hookiness of their debut set, 'Things. Yes', with 'These Days', while adding a distinctly genre-hopping attitude to the mix. Dare we suggest that 'B Song' sounds a little Beck-y? Yes, we dare. It's sort of retro, but definitely with a here-and-now undercurrent - a track to bop to, but not without engaging one's brain. We're hearing flashes of Phoenix in there, too.
The forthcoming 'These Days' began back in the spring of 2012, and has been steadily arranged since, with its creators rarely in the same place at the same time. The time spent together, though, has been productive, allowing space for new expression. "We tried to experiment with the song form, freeing ourselves of any bias towards any genre," say the band. Comprised of no samples, everything on the LP is built from scratch. Impressive work, chaps.
