It’s pop but not pop.
On the surface, Kimberly Anne’s output is short, sweet, melodic – all the things classic pop songs strive to be.
Yet, underneath all this, the South London artist has brought together all manner of challenging, left field influences.
Kicking off her career at spoken word nights, Kimberly Anne has evolved gradually, steadily building her voice in the process. New EP ‘Liar’ collects the results, and Clash can stream it in full.
Opening cut ‘Liar’ is a golden pop gem, while ‘Girl Next Door’ has a sort of Paul Simon, ‘Gracelands’ era feel. ‘Almost On My Feet’ is triumphant, soulful while Jakwob steps into the fray to re-work the title track.
