Premiere: Jono McCleery – ‘Age Of Self’

Folk inflections with electronic traces...

Jono McCleery may well be a name that is familiar to you.

After all, the vocalist aided Portico on their enthralling recent LP and has previously worked with a host of other artists.

It is for his solo work, though, that the singer is most cherished. Jono McCleery has a relaxed, un-rushed temperament, with each song seeming to tumble out in a sweetly poetic fashion.

New album 'Pagodes' – his third to date – arrives on October 2nd (pre-order LINK) via the If Music imprint, a label founded by the Soho based record shop of the same name.

Clash is able to unveil new cut 'Age Of Self'. A cover of the Robert Wyatt hymn, Jono's folk-inflected arrangement is complimented by some tasteful, organic electronics.

Check it out now.

Jono McCleery will toast the launch of 'Pagodes' with a special show at London venue Electrowerkz on October 13th.
