John Wizards have unveiled remixes from Seiji and The 2 Bears - check them out below.
Smuggled out via Planet Mu, John Wizards' self-titled debut was one of 2013's most effortlessly refreshing releases. Fusing Western pop and indie rock with South African rhythms and a dash of electronics, the band introduced themselves with the kind of nonchalance which can't be faked.
Placing the album at number 40 on our end of year countdown, Clash writer Joe Zadeh opined: "Written from experiences in Maputo, Cape Town, Dar Es Salaam, their sunny debut effort was an explosion of imagination that won a deserved wave of praise."
Stripped from the album, John Wizards gave 'Muizenberg' a standalone single release earlier this month. Opening with a buoyant, sliding guitar line, the track matches a carefree falsetto to an arrangement which seems to tap into a vein of eternal sunshine.
Out now via Planet Mu, two special remixes have been commissioned. Seiji strips the track right down, utilising the bare essentials before transforming it into a bizarre, sparse, tech-influenced piece.
Heading in a completely different direction, The 2 Bears inject some house feeling to 'Muizenberg' whilst retaining the nagging sense of funk employed to such infectious effect in the original.
