Premiere: Jim Noir – ‘The Broadway Jets’

Listen to it now...

For a while there, it seemed as though we had lost Jim Noir.

A deeply independent artist, the Manchester based songsmith seemed to eschew artistry to focus on rather more vital, everyday pursuits.

But suddenly, almost without warning, he's back. New album 'Finnish Line' will be released on November 3rd, with the singer boasting some heavy duty influences.

"Alcohol. Life. Death. Aliens; in that order I think," he explains. "It’s a roam around what I was thinking at a slightly hard point in my life. I stopped drinking for two months and had a moment of clarity. A couple of songs are about Manchester and how weird it is. A couple about myself, girls, how I like to think aliens are just laughing at us and the futility of it all, and a couple about mortality and how, when, if, and why anyone should worry about it."

Infused with his usual brand of off kilter psych-pop, 'Finnish Line' matches an acerbic world view to some glorious melodies. At times recalling The Beatles, Clash is able to premiere jangle-tastic new cut 'The Broadway Jets'.

A sort of UK counterpoint to Guided By Voices shambling indie pop, 'The Broadway Jets' finds Jim Noir wrapping his ever-entertaining social observations around sighing vocals and just a touch of tambourine.
